Congratulations to 7th Annual Schools Marathon Challenge Winners,
Sacré-Coeur of Welland, Ontario!
The Niagara Parks Commission, presenting sponsor, along with The Niagara Falls International Marathon are pleased to announce the school with the most participants in this year’s Schools Marathon Challenge was l’École élémentaire catholique du Sacré-Coeur of Welland, Ontario.
With 64 students completing the 2.195 km race from Rapidsview Parking Lot to Table Rock on Sunday, October 24th, Sacré-Coeur broke the winning streak of Mary Ward from Niagara Falls, who has won for the past four years.
To recognize the hard work and training that the students have endured, Pizza Pizza, a major sponsor of the Niagara Parks Schools Marathon Challenge awarded Sacré-Coeur’s marathon participants a pizza party at the school on November 23, 2010.
Niagara Parks would like to recognize all students, parents and volunteers for their enthusiastic involvement in the run. This year proved to be another huge success with approximately 1,000 runners from grades 3-8 along with parents and teachers joining the fun. Thanks to everyone’s support, Niagara Parks hopes to grow the event next year, so be sure to tell your friends and relatives and keep training!
This program, designed for school aged children supports the mandate for ACTIVE2010 – a comprehensive strategy to increase participation in sport and physical activity throughout Ontario.
